Extensor’s work is based on the scientific premise that rhamnolipids alter membrane micro-architecture and localization of cell surface receptors in lipid rafts to suppress proliferation and/or induce apoptosis.  Additionally, early intervention by inhibition of myofibroblast cell survival pathways is a viable disease-modifying strategy for Dupuytren’s Disease and additionally that disruption of intercellular myofibroblast communication reduces contractile activity in the myofibroblast  syncytium.
